This open-neck shirt is made of checked fabric woven in Madras (now Chennai) in southeastern India, an essential part of the Ivy League style of the 1950s and 1960s. It features a texture and color that cannot be achieved domestically, and uses ikat threads for part of the warp. A TRUE MADRAS label is sewn on the collar, and urea buttons are used on the front.
