Sugarcane Tailor Toyo SUKA BOWLING SHIRT “ROARING TIGER” - Black

This piece is a bowling shirt design that incorporates the designs of 1950s Sukajan jackets. The embroidery of the names of major cities and places where US military bases were located is also reproduced based on vintage designs. The collar, cuffs, and action pleats are matched to the colours of the embroidery.

This is a work from the 1950s in which the needle direction is freely controlled to express the tiger's fur and stripes with only the three-dimensional effect of the embroidery. Using embroidery thread, the tiger's body, full of dynamism, is drawn almost entirely in one color. This is a work that only a skilled craftsman could achieve, and is reproduced in the shape of a bowling shirt, perfect for the summer.
